草莓族 The Strawberry Generation

I learn something new today… The Strawberry Group ~ 草莓族!

I took sometime to surf thru what is this 草莓族, and I found this article. And I truly agree nowadays the new generation unlike us whom can take on stress and pressure. We were bullied and pressed down when we first came out and worked. We survived thru the hard times and learned from our mistakes and become what we are right now. Though it’s not anything high fly, but at least you’re proud of yourself for what you are, right?

I have somebody here, who is young and claimed that he’s been into IT field but arrogant.
Well, nobody cares whether this person is arrogant or what, as long as he/she can work. Right?

Apparently he/she made couple of mistakes and we have highlighted to the person, and guess what treatment that we’ve got after highlighted? It was a blast from the person that made the mistake.

This person of our department has been here with us for a year, and the position that this person hold is an admin support. Sometimes being an admin support there are no fix and standard to follow, but many things are just merely based on experience, knowledge and even common sense.

Well, if a person is fresh and green, isn’t a person should learn from the experienced one? I understand the department secretary has been telling the admin support what to do and what not to do, and this admin support some how just chose to ignore what the secretary had instructed him/her to do. Even the mistakes surface up, he/she just chose to act as naïve and ignorant. Well, not only that, the admin support even put the blamed on the secretary.

When the mistake surfaces up, what the admin did was denying everything and confirmed that’s not a mistake but to blame others. Some how, the mistake was then clarified by the affected party. When the admin realize this cannot be denied anymore, the admin was asked to refer to the secretary for further solving the mistake.

Well, guess what happen? The admin just threw the tantrum to the secretary and not even begging for help to solve the problem.

Well, whoever read this, will just ask, isn’t this admin having attitude problem??

I can tell you that, yes, the admin is having real bad attitude problem. And not to forget the admin is actually a contract staff, and the secretary has been eating all these unhappiness up herself without sharing with anyone till these things surface up to our attention.

Anyway, … more to share.

30 years

Yesterday evening I had a great chat with my childhood friend, a friend that I’ve know for 30 years. The friendship is even longer than I know my husband.

We were both in the same class when we’re in primary, then her entire family moved out from Penang state, and we didn’t keep in touch since then. When comes to secondary school, we realize we were both studying the same school again. Unfortunately we both were not from the same stream which means she’s from Science Stream and I was from Arts.

During the 5 years secondary time, we both though were not as close as before, but we still meet up once in awhile and share load our ‘stress’ when comes to exams.

After graduate, we both were not keeping in contact till 8 or 9 years ago. And now, we both realize that our friendship had grown for 30 years already.

Isn’t it time flies? Isn’t it we should treasure the friendship that we had built since we were small?? How many have 30 years friendship without change?

We exchange thoughts, ideas, and giving each other advices when the others needed. Stand by each other when the other needs help. You just can’t find a friend like this anymore.

Honestly am grateful with that 30 years friendship.

Market panic

With the current market situation, how many will go ahead with their holiday plan?

I guess everybody is in a very depressing mood. Yesterday Dow Jones has trembling down and it affects Asian market. What right now is cash is the only thing that could survive.

Thus, you would have to take a look at your safety net, is it strong enough to sustain your weight. Otherwise, it will just burst out before you could do anything to save it.

Many countries had announced that they are getting into recessions and we see giants like Citigroup is retrenching 50k staff, crude oil is sliding down to USD53 right now. People are now starting to worry for deflation instead of inflation. And all these could lead to deep recession, and it will probably take a few years to re-build it back.

Things that we heard are getting real scary… and though we know it’s beyond our control cuz, these are all business decisions. Some companies are eliminating staffs that are under performing, or even excess headcounts. Some are planning for year end shut down; some even had alerted many of their employees that foresee next year will not have increment. Thus far, have yet to hear anything like pay cut.

What would be our alternatives right now?? How do we brace this financial storm?

An injured puppy

Would you save a puppy’s life if you see it has injured its leg and has been hunger for some time?

I think many would if they see a puppy was like dying and full of dirt and ants around its body.

This is the puppy was saved by my sister-in-law yesterday when she was about to leave for her appointment. She heard a puppy’s crying, but she doesn’t know where is it. When she found out, the puppy was actually below the car which she had park outside the house.

Without second thought she quickly grab the puppy into her arms and sent the injured pup to the vet. Then she got to know the right leg is fractured and the vet said when its get older, it will heal automatically, however we still find that we should seek a second opinion.

Isn’t this cute??

Opening Gurney Plaza New Wing

Since it’s a long day work today, so we both decided to go for a walk right after our dinner. And, I heard it’s Gurney Plaza’s new wing opening, so we both just thought of walking around and see what are the new shops open.

First shop that I had eyed on it was Eclipse, local designer Sonny San’s brand name. A shop where you can find nice shoes, nice hand bags and petite size dresses, blouses, and so on.

Followed by Braun Buffel, a reknown leather bags shop. And many other more like MNG, Hush Puppies, Lacy Lace, etc.

Many shopping malls have put up the Christmas decoration, this is my first mall that had visited so far. Of course comparing this to KL shopping mall like 1 Utama or Mid Valley, Penang shopping mall can never bid them. If the excuse was spacious, well Queensbay Mall is spacious enough, unfortunately they do not have the idea or talent to put up a nice and attractive deco like Mid Valley Mega Mall. Gurney Plaza’s Christmas deco is too ordinary and nothing to shout about.

Parkson has also done their renovation inconjuction with the new wing opening too. It's bigger in terms of brand name products, 2nd floor is a joint between the old wing and new wing. It's good to walk around with so many stuff.

Anyway, this post is just merely to share the Gurney Plaza new wing.

The joint between the old wing and the new wing at 4th floor.

New wing Christmas deco.

Shops from the new wing.

New wing path way.

They just do nothing...

Just got to know a friend’s wife’s handbag was snatched by someone in Megamall Prai area. If you know where is it, it’s a mega mall that was built by a famous developer who doesn’t know how to maintain his properties.

Well, how I know… oh, that’s simple, as I do have family member into such industry, so, more or less I know bit here and there.

Anyway, that place honestly is creepy to me, dirty, dim, lots of those jobless people, foreigners, etc. I know there are many shop houses, even tuition centre.

The story was she was sending one of the kids to the tuition centre, and upon reaching the centre told her that due to emergency matter, they are not open today. Thus, she has to send the kids back home. On top of that she was actually wanted to bank in about RM2K in the bank which is near to the tuition centre as well.

When she walked down together with the kids, there were 2 men were eyeing on her, as it’s a good opportunity to snatch her bag especially she was with 2 kids. Those people came over and snatch it from her, and the kids and her was pulling it from the thieves.

While the incident was happening, opposite the coffee shop, there were 2 policemen having their tea. And they saw the entire incident. The victim was actually questioned the policemen why aren’t they come over and help them. Guess what they said, they said how do they know what are they doing, they thought they know each other.

Question… where are those money that we have paid to the Government like income tax, government tax, etc?? Aren’t policemen supposed to protect the civilians regardless things happened like this?? They have all rights to question what are they trying to do, and also warn them for not doing it as it lead to misunderstanding things like that.

Question… common sense, aren’t the policemen should come forward and query?? And why aren’t they doing so??

This is really disappointing!! Honestly do!! Though it doesn’t happen to me, but I could feel the pain as my mother’s bag was snatched before. Probably that RM2k is in need for other purposes… if those idiots really wanted to snatch for money, get the hell to work hard for it, isn’t it??

Unfortunately, not many people would have that thought!! Some people are just being lazy and waiting for the money to drop off from the sky!!!

A husband's value

Once I chatted with my sister-in-law thru Skype, and we were talking about how men can be a good husband and what’s their value.

Instead of talking about the men’s value, we were actually comparing the brothers’ value. You see my sister-in-law’s husband is my husband’s brother. And though brought up in the same environment, the same discipline, the same teaching, some how, my brother-in-law unlike his brother that is my husband which is that helpful in terms of house chores.

Right now my sister-in-law is expecting the 2nd child, and her stomach is pretty big, 2 more months to due too. Her husband has never ever helped her to watch their son’s buttock or bath their son. Thus, not to mention about reading bed time story to their son.

So, question here is though I don’t have any children right now, but I can see my hubby can help out in many ways. For instance right now, if am sick, he will help me to clean the house, cook for me, or even help me to iron.

Perhaps, many husbands think that the men work very hard in the outside world, thus, the wife could have done the best not to disturb them and let me have a comfort home when they are return.

But, how many understand there are many chauvinistic men out there who never think the same as the minority one?

Last night I was caught by the topic which was discussed in the 10.30pm Channel 311 (Astro Wah Lai Toi). 3 famous and well known ladies in KL, one of them is Ms Chinese Pagent (runner up only), the other one is a famous DJ, and Ms Angel Wong Chui Ling. One of them was married to a Taiwanese husband, she was saying, the local guys in Malaysia do not really that independent compared to the Taiwanese men. Of course, that’s based on her observation and her thought. She said, her husband will help out in many ways especially right now she’s pregnant. And that probably is not due to family brought up but due to the husband was under trained in reservist for the country before.

She also added that, Taiwanese men especially the older generation are equally chauvinistic too. But some how the younger generation are different.

Well, for the new women, what would you expect from your husband then? Can they be trained to assist you in house chores??

Penang Bridge traffic

2 days already…. 2 days of heavy traffic on the bridge.

Ever since fuel price drop for 15¢ and now at RM2.05, guess there’re many cars on the road, as many people could afford. And since then, 2 days on the bridge the traffic was rather heavy at early morning.

I could see many cars are only the driver themselves without ferrying any passengers, unlike those days when the fuel price was sky high, I could still see some cars ferrying 2 or 3 passengers.

If one could still have the discipline to transport their friends or colleagues, perhaps, that will contribute some benefits to the global environmental issue.

Unfortunately human being is a selfish creature, and hard to find one unselfish. Agree?

Decent income

When you got to know you have earned some decent money from advertisers, how would you feel?? Am sure you’ll be motivated and blog more, right?

What if you received an email from one of the advertiser said that they would like to pull out from your blog and with effective end of this month. And, how would you feel then? Either you’ll be upset or you’ll be working hard and blog more and hope there will be other advertiser to advertise in your blog, right?

Well, few days ago I was pretty curious to find out how much ‘decent’ income that I’ve earned and to my surprise, it wasn’t a lot, but that’s enough to make my day. But today, I received a bad news from another advertiser that they would like to terminate the advertising service in my blog. [sigh]

Looks like I got to blog more, blog frequent and explore more topics or food… otherwise, the decent income will also be ‘stagnant’, right?
