Holiday in Langkawi

The recent Langkawi trip that I went isn’t that enjoyable like what I had in Pangkor Laut Resort. I don’t know what is missing, but some how, both of us kept benchmarking it.

In fact, this trip is more expensive than Pangkor Laut. Looks like I keep promoting Pangkor Laut Resort, huh?? But, honestly, it’s worth the visit.

This is my first time taking the ferry to Langkawi, been to Langkawi twice, and twice were on flight. So, it’s a different experience taking a ferry from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi.

Well, why Kuala Kedah? Guess we both decided to enjoy the scenery along the way. Secondly, I have bad motion sickness. I was told ferry from Penang port to Langkawi takes about 2 hours, where as from Kuala Kedah is about 1 and a half hour. So, in short, I don’t need to suffer that much. [grin]
The weather isn’t gloomy in the main land, in fact, it was all the way pretty cooling. I like to see padi fields on both side of the highway. It’s hard to see these padi fields nowadays, even so we have it in Butterworth side, and it’s already developed a residential area. I always find it sad to see developers develop such land.

It was an hour drive from Sungai Dua toll to Alor Setar Selatan. And, along the way, there are signboards that illustrating the way to Kuala Kedah. Hence, don’t worry about getting lost.

When we reached Kuala Kedah, it’s already 11. 15am, getting a parking lot was kind of difficult. With all the time wasted in searching, ended up, we took the 12.15pm ferry. And by the time we reach the island it’s already 1.30pm, getting a car rental and checked in to the hotel is already 2pm.
Thank God the hotel that we stayed is only 3 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. I realized now that most of the hotels will hand you a cold towel when you arrived to their hotel and a glass of drink to refresh their guests. Well, The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa does that too when we arrived.
Westin group of hotels are famous with their heavenly bed. And, I’ve wanted to stay in Westin for a long time.

So, check out the pictures below… this is the room that we had stayed.

And the amenities too.

And, this is the hotel's surrounding.

hi little inbox, dont you feel pleasant when see greens??? especially now every where is so developed.

hi liang mui, pangkor laut is the private island, that's what i was referring. if you have time, you could check out my archive posts. as for the pangkor that you mentioned, i believe it's only 2 main roads that's all. in fact, i've never been to that island. guess you should consider to have a good honeymoon down there in pangkor laut resort. :)

Really nice travelog, wish I had more time to go on holidays and snap-snap photos too.

Actually, if we go holiday and then explore-explore use leg instead of drive car, we get to snap gems (photo opportunities) everywhere ma. Sometimes if take different angles also get better picture. For me I sometimes hold camera facing up (not even looking at the LCD screen or viewfinder) and snap only.
